Thoughts On Victory Over Tennessee State

After beating LIU Brooklyn on Friday Night by the score of 81-64, the Aztecs welcomed the Tennessee State Tigers to Viejas. After a very gritty performance by both teams the Aztecs were team that ended up victorious by the score of 62-49.


Balanced Scoring

San Diego State had another balanced scoring effort. The Aztecs had five players who scored at least eight points. Junior guard Malachi Flynn and senior forward Yanni Wetzell led the way for the Aztecs. Flynn had 11 points and Wetzell finished with 10. In addition, guard Adam Seiko scored nine points, all of which came from beyond the arc. Forward Matt Mitchell also scored nine. Guard KJ Feagin also put eight points on the board.


Another game, another time where the Aztecs out rebounded their opponent. The Aztecs slightly out rebounded the Tigers 35- 34. They were led by forward Jordan Schakel, who had six rebounds. Also, the other two starting forwards Wetzell and Nathan Mensah had five rebounds.


Shooting Struggles

In this game, the Aztecs struggled to put the ball into the basket; especially at a point in the first half. In the last nine minutes in the first half, the Aztecs did not make a basket. They were 9-30 from the field in the first half. Even though, with his struggles the Aztecs were still up 25-23. For the game, they shot 20-56 (35.7%) from the field and 6-21 (28.6%) from three point range.
