After having a road win at BYU (76-71) on Saturday, the Aztecs faced a good team, the Grand Canyon Lopes on Wednesday night. The Aztecs played a great game and dominated them by a final score of 86-51. Here are three thoughts on last night's victory:
Three Point Shooting
The Aztecs had a great time shooting the basketball and especially from beyond the arc. In the game, the Aztecs were 13-27(48.1%) from three point range. Both starting guards, KJ Feagin and Malachi Flynn had three three-pointers. Forward Matt Michell, Keshad Jonhosn, and guard Adam Seiko made two three-pointers a piece. Hopefully, the Aztecs can keep this hot shooting moving forward for the rest of the year.
The Aztecs did a fantastic job of sharing the basketball. The Aztecs made 35 baskets, 25 of those baskets were assisted. Flynn led the way with nine assists, seven of which came in the first half. Also, Feagin dished out seven assists and guard Trey Pulliam had four assists. Also, Mitchell added three.
Like the Aztecs did in the first two games they did another tremendous job of rebounding the basketball. The Aztecs out rebounded the Lopes 37 to 32. Out of the 37 rebounds, the Aztecs had eight on the offensive end. Forward Nathan Mensah led the Aztecs with nine rebounds. Also, forwards Yanni Wetezell and Aguek Arop had six rebounds each.
