On Mother’s Day Devin Watson announced that he was coming back home and transferring to San Diego State. The 6-1 guard will sit one year and have two years of eligibility left.
Watson was a three star prospect coming out of El Camino High School in Oceanside, California. During his time at San Francisco Watson has developed into an offensive threat. He averaged 20.3 points and 4.9 assists per game as a sophomore on his way to being named first team All West Coast Conference.
Watson is a great pickup for the Aztecs. His offense will be a welcome addition to San Diego State who could use as much of it as they can get. Having Watson will allow the Aztecs to play him, Trey Kell, and Jeremy Hemsley in a variety of combinations on the floor.
Watson was also considering California, Fresno St., Kansas, and UNLV.
