San Diego State reached into the 2021 class with another offer, this time to a big man from the state of Wyoming. According to his AAU team, Coach Brian Dutcher and staff offered 6-11 rising junior Lawson Lovering a scholarship.
Lovering is a highly skilled big man who can play inside and out. Offensively Lovering has range all the way to the three-point line, while also being able to play down low. He has impressive footwork for a player of his size to go with a soft touch around the basket. Defensively he has great length to disrupt and block shots and haul in rebounds.
With reports that he could reach up to 7-1 in height it will be important for him to add some muscle to his frame. Added upper body strength will also help him fighting for rebounds on the offensive glass as he battles with bigger, stronger players in college.
Currently Lovering has offers from Baylor, Boise State, Colorado State, and Wyoming to go along with the recent Aztecs offer. As he continues to develop expect his recruitment to grow.
At San Diego State he would be a great fit because the Aztecs do not pigeonhole any player to a certain position and he would be able to play freely within the offense. Should he pick the Aztecs by the time he gets on campus both Joel and Nathan Mensah would be seniors and he would be able to find a lot of minutes available to him as a freshman.
