While some players that were not granted an invite to the NBA Combine have returned to school, San Diego State forward Malik Pope is rightfully continuing the NBA pre-draft process. Pope did not receive an invite to the combine in Chicago and instead will workout for NBA teams.
According to Mark Zeigler, Pope is scheduled to workout for the Los Angeles Lakers on May 20, Utah Jazz on May 21, and the Phoenix Suns on May 23. He has already worked out for the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics. These workouts will further help him determine where he stands in the draft process.
Draftexpress.com has Pope ranked as their #100 prospect in this year’s draft, which projects him to go undrafted. Pope will need to blow teams away during these private workouts in order to improve his stock and find a way into first round consideration.
Pope has until May 25th to decide whether to enter the NBA Draft or return to San Diego State.
As Pope schedules more workouts we will add them to this article. We will also carefully monitor his draft stock and update it here.
