Joel Mensah Asserting Himself as a Senior

Finding information on 2018 Aztecs signee Joel Mensah has not been easy. His team stats are not readily available. Thankfully Joel Francisco of SoCal Prep Hoops has been keeping an eye on the big man at the Jim Harris Memorial Tournament. Mensah finished with 12 points in a win over Marina and 28 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks in the finale on his way to being named MVP of the event.

We have spoken many times about all the great attributes that Mensah holds as a player. Francisco mentioned the length, good hands, and excellent footwork that have made Mensah a solid prospect. However Francisco worried about his lack of assertiveness on the court while he played for the New York Lightning in the Nike EYBL. Well apparently Mensah has taken that step as a senior. Here is what Francisco wrote:

“However, at the Jim Harris TOC, Mensah was a no nonsense leader who dominated the game with is length, timing, rebounding, and an impressive soft touch out to 20-feet. Look for Mensah to have an immediate impact for the Aztecs.”

Obviously that is exciting to hear and we hope that Mensah continues his development. We hope to bring you some live reports from his games in the near future. Meanwhile give SoCal Prep Hoops a look. They have a dedicated staff covering Southern California High School hoops.
