Per Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, 2020 big man Frank Anselem has narrowed his list down to six schools and the Aztecs are among those six. The other schools that joined San Diego State were Arkansas, Kentucky, Seton Hall, Syracuse, and Western Kentucky. Surprisingly, none of the schools that were in his final three when he reclassified made his final list this time around.
Anselem is a four-star forward out of Prolific Prep in Napa, California, via Georgia. The 6-11 big man was originally a part of the 2021 class, but decided to reclassify to the 2020 class and re-opened his recruitment. A four-star recruit, Anselem is an athletic and explosive big man who can rebound, block shots, and score around the rim.
Minutes area available in the front court for Anselem were he to come to San Diego State as the Aztecs lack size up front. Pairing him with Nathan Mensah would give the Aztecs one of the better, if not the best, front court duo in the Mountain West. His athleticism would fit in nicely with what the coaches like to do, and he could be further helped in his development by the excellent coaching staff we have here on the Mesa.
A huge factor and the biggest difference for San Diego State compared to the other schools on his list is geography. While Anselem is from Georgia and a return near home is possible, if he would want to stay out west though then San Diego State is the only option. With schools like Kentucky and Syracuse you never know, however I like that the Aztecs are different then every other team on his list. Their uniqueness gives them a fighting chance.
