Coaches Visiting Players During the Contact Period

Starting on September 9, 2017, the contact period, also known as recruiting period, began and coaches scurried out to visit prospects and their verbal commits. San Diego State’s coaching staff has been quietly making their rounds to their recruits, however in this day of social media their moves could easily be followed.

The big thing this year is recruits or their schools taking pictures of the coaches with the player and we have been tracking where the San Diego State coaches have been based on those pictures and other social media. Now there may be other players who we do not know of yet, however we will add more to this page when we get them.

September 9, 2017

- Coach Dave Velasquez was at Mission Bay High School checking in on 2019 PG recruit Rejean “Boogie” Ellis.

- Coaches Brian Dutcher (unconfirmed), Justin Hutson, and Tim Shelton were at the Findlay Prep College Combine to check out 2018 big man Nathan Mensah.

September 11, 2017

- Coaches Dutcher and Velasquez were at JSerra High School checking in on 2018 Aztecs commit Joel Mensah.

September 14, 2017

- Coaches Dutcher, Shelton, and Velasquez were at Folsom High School watching 2018 target Mason Forbes.

- Coach Shelton was at Capital Christian High School to watch 2018 center Tolu Jacobs Yaffa.

September 16, 2017

If we hear of any more coaches visiting recruits or of any recruits visiting San Diego State we will add it to our Facebook and Twitter page.
