This evaluation period the San Diego State staff has been following around the Las Vegas Knicks AAU squad on the Adidas Circuit. One player who has stood out and made a name for himself over the last two weeks has been Tyler Bey. On Sunday the Aztecs extended Bey a scholarship offer.
“I am very thankful and excited that SDSU has offered me. It makes me want to work even harder,” Bey said.
Bey has a long list of offers from schools like Auburn, Colorado, Nevada, and SMU, among others. Right now four schools are standing out to Bey as recruiting him the hardest.
“Nevada, San Diego State, Utah and Wyoming,” Bey told us.
Bey’s game seems to be rounding into form at the right time. Since the start of the Spring Evaluation Period he has received seven offers and we expect that number to rise. A 6-8 forward, Bey has the length and athleticism that the San Diego State coaching staff values. Add to that an improving skill set and Bey is one of the fastest rising prospects. Aztecs fans will be happy to hear what Bey considers his strengths.
“My strengths are making shots and doing whatever is needed for my team to win”
Bey’s hustle and hard work on the court is matched only by the effort that he puts into his game when no one is around. He has identified his biggest needs and is willing to put in the work to make his team better. “I want to get better on my ball handling, play better on ball defense, and be able to carry the team on my back,” Bey said.
Bey would like to wrap up his recruitment sooner rather than later. He is eyeing making a commitment in July.
