Sometimes we get information that we hold back on due to not being able to confirm its accuracy or for other reasons. Our motto is to be sure rather than be wrong. One player that we had heard that had been holding an offer, which we can now confirm, from San Diego State was 2021 shooting guard Kennedy “Reese” Dixon-Waters.
Dixon is from Playa Del Rey, California, and recently transferred to St. Bernard’s High School from Dorsey High. He played on the AAU circuit with The Truth of the Nike EYBL along with fellow 2021 Aztec offeree Peyton Watson.
The 6-5 junior is a four-star prospect, ranked #60 overall, by 247Sports. At 6-5 he is a big guard who is versatile and can do a little bit of everything, shoot, pass, and facilitate the offense.
Currently Dixon-Waters holds five offers, California, San Diego State, Santa Clara, Southern California, and Stanford. In an article by Josh Gershon that appeared today on 247Sports, Dixon-Waters’s stepfather, Luther Waters, was asked to discuss the five schools that had offered his stepson. This is what he had to say about San Diego State:
“I love Dutch (Brian Dutcher). He’s been around for many years. Jay Morris is a great friend. They’re extremely intriguing because of the conference they’re in. They play a national schedule. They run a system that I think is a good match for Reese’s skill set. With Coach Dutch’s experience both as a longtime assistant under coach (Steve) Fisher and also a head coach, I think he could really help Reese’s development.”
Within the article there was also discussion about him reclassifying into the class of 2020. This is something that he has discussed with the staff at Southern California and will need to be monitored.
